Welcome to your PBR Study Buddy, your AI-powered tool designed to help you understand and clarify complex medical concepts. This isn’t your average chatbot. It’s a focused educator with one mission: to help you conquer the concepts and topics that just don’t make sense to you.
So Why Did I Create the PBR Study Buddy?
Because getting stuck on a single, complex topic can be a pain. Plus, it can completely derail your progress and set you behind on your study schedule. When I was preparing for my board exams and needed a little extra help to grasp a tricky concept, it required a lot of digging around the web.
I don’t want you to have to do the same thing. My mission is to help you blow past barriers, and one of those barriers can be the need for just a little extra information to understand a topic, or to tie key concepts together. So, I took my personality, my years of experience, and I created the PBR Study Buddy to help.
Beta Version & My Request of You
The PBR Study Buddy is currently in its infancy. You’re getting access to it as a beta user for an indeterminate amount of time (possibly for the duration of your membership). In return, I ask that if you or the Study Buddy come across potential errors in the PBR materials that you take just 30 seconds to notify me. Don’t worry, your buddy will create a summary of the issue for you to send in.
Also, I ask that you give me feedback! It can be good, or it can be “constructive.”
Please do send feedback! The more I get, the better. If it’s good, it’ll feed my soul. If it’s truly constructive, it’ll help me help you by addressing your issue. And if my team and I see that the buddy isn’t providing value, we can invest our time elsewhere to figure out how to best serve you.
What CAN Your Study Buddy Do?
Here’s how it can help:
✔ Assist with PBR Materials: Focus on the content within the PBR Core Study Guide and Question and Answer Book to ensure you understand the material being presented.
✔ Clarify Complex Topics: Break down specific topics into understandable parts.
✔ Provide Examples and Analogies: Use relatable scenarios to help you understand difficult concepts through a different lens.
What CAN'T Your Study Buddy Do?
The PBR Study Buddy is really smart, but it’s also very focused. Here’s what it’s NOT going to do for you:
❌ Create Memory Aids or Mnemonics: It won't generate memory aids; for that, use the PBR Memory Buddy.
❌ Answer Random Questions: Need to know the weather? How to roast a turkey? I recommend talking to Alexa, Siri, or ChatGPT.
❌ Assist with Outside Material: It isn’t interested in information from UpToDate, Nelson's, or anywhere else. It only has love for helping you cement information from PBR.
❌ Generate Creatives: It doesn’t have the capability to generate graphics, tables, diagrams, etc.
A Few Things to Keep In Mind
🎯 Privacy and Access: Team PBR will have access to your chats, so be nice.
🎯 Stay Focused: Keep your questions tied to PBR content.
🎯 Troubleshooting: If the buddy feels a bit off (e.g., a message disappears or seems like it didn’t come through), refresh the page to see if that fixes the issue. As a last resort, you can clear your cookies and cache.
🎯 Chat Memory: Your buddy is smart, but has generally been created for “one-time” use. It may, or may not, remember you the next time you chat with it. Much of this depends on individual settings for cookies, caching, and if you are using the same device.
